The number of foreigners seeking jobs in in India seems to be growing. HR heads say that the number of applications for foreigners is increasing. In March, according to a TOI report, 25 students (16 US citizens, Mexicans, Japanese and two Indias) from the University of Texas at Austin (UTA) flew down to check out Indian companies. While the university has organised trips to Brazil, China and Australia in the past, this is the first such trip to India. Two of them have been offered positions in India.
Universities like Stanford and Massachusetts Institute of Technology also have programmes similar to that of UTA. In a role reversal of sorts, InStep a program run by Infosys Technologies, gets students from Stanford, Harvard and Princeton universities of the US to train and work in the company. This year it will get 80.
As an effect of outsourcing and job cuts in countries like the USA and UK, experts say that skilled foreign workers from these countries are now exploring opportunities elsewhere and in India. Over the last few months, overseas workers have started showing an increased interest in India.
